About

When we were creating our website www.worldwidecycles.com Keith Bohanna suggested that it might be a good idea to begin a blog . At first we weren’t quite sure what should go into a blog , technical articles , race reports , product reviews or what ?
Over time I guess that you could say that we have found our niche and judging by the amount of people who read it each day we must be doing something right . It is designed to be interactive so feel free to post comments on different articles or to make suggestions  , all are welcome !

  1. Hi! Cool website! I’m actually looking for volunteers to join me on a cycle from Istanbul to Ireland in May-June 2008 – all in aid of GOAL. Maybe you could mention the site on your blog? http://www.pierse.org/Cycle.html

  2. Looking for resource to get maps/cheat sheets for street(skinny tire) bike touring in southwest Ireland: Kerry and Cork. Planning to be there last week in April. Also any suggestions for lodgings als o would be appreciated.

  3. Hi Tom ,

http://www.discoverireland.ie would be a good place to start looking for maps and lodgings etc.
You could get lucky with the weather as April was our summer last year but bring your rain gear just in case .

  4. I want to start cycling again. Initially, I’m a cross country runner, but I’m starting to hate the people I run with… thus on to something else. Is there any semi-competitive cycling tours in the tristate area (NY, NJ, PA) because I would love to try something new.

  5. Hi ,

The best places that I know of for you to try out would be at 7.00 am most Saturday and Sunday mornings at either Central park in Manhattan or prospect park in Brooklyn .
There’s usually a pretty decent size group riding around that time and there are often races which you could try your hand at . Coming from a cross country running background you should have no trouble on the bike .
    Hope this helps ,

    Barry

    Great Blog!
I look after the PR for the An Post Sean Kelly team and was wondering if you could supply me with an email address that we can add to our mailing list for releases, pictures, updates and news on the team.
    Thanks,

  10. Hi Worldwidecyclesblog.com!

    Question:

Would you be interested in blogging about an event I’m putting on this April 2010:

The 1st Annual San Francisco Slappity Slapdown:
an independent gear-review of the bike industry’s strongest electric hub motors, grueling it out in America’s steepest city. The hub motors will be mounted on an Xtracycle FreeRadical, loaded with 150 lbs of gear, piloted by roadies from the Bicycle Music Festival, and rated for their performance through trials that include 31.5% grade 22nd St. – one of the steepest navigable hills in America.

The Slappity Slapdown was inspired by cargo-bike owners who still, in spite of being load-hauling hard asses most of the time, find themselves getting in a car to haul that “un-bikeable load.” With Electric hub-motored cargo bikes – there’s no more need for the car, ever.

Our goal is to find, at the end of the Slappity Slapdown, which hub motors have been slappity slapped, and which electric hub motor is most suitable for cargo bikes, and so can wear the Slapdown Crown.

I’d be happy to send you more information about the Slappity Slapdown, just holler: 415.572.9625, Gabe@BicycleMusicFestival.com

    Best,

    Gabe Dominguez

For those brave people who competed in the An Post Sligo Race, I’ve tons of photos from Ox Mountains. Have a look, you might just see blood, sweat and tears (ok no tears…lol)
